The purpose of this role is to perform electrical maintenance on equipment and machinery safely and cost-effectively to maximise reliability and availability of HME/plant equipment. Job Description As our Electrician , your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Safety, Health, and Environment Adhere to all health and safety practices and requirements. Promote good housekeeping to ensure compliance and a risk‑controlled environment. Exemplify all relevant safety standards and procedures as a positive example for learners. Actively participate in SLAMs, HOHs, relevant risk assessments, and close‑out of safety actions. Performance and Delivery Equipment and Machinery Maintenance Maintain and test equipment/machinery to ensure functionality, safety, reliability and availability within specified timeframes and budgets. Inspect for failures and repair or raise notifications. Ensure optimal utilisation and availability to maximise production and throughput schedules. Report defects, equipment failures and repair requirements to the supervisor for decision‑making. Execute work per operating model standards and procedures. Complete job cards thoroughly and return them on time. Keep all toolboxes and tools clean and sound. Communicate and hand over outstanding tasks between shifts and day‑shift teams. Maintenance Efficiency Ensure equipment installations and commissioning comply with the maintenance strategy. Test infrastructure and post‑installation work for functionality per specifications and budgets. Monitor maintenance progress and activities against ad‑hoc jobs to meet operational targets, minimise downtime and enhance efficiency. Assistance and Practices Provide proactive maintenance advice aligned with best practices. Communicate to organise necessary resources, including equipment and personnel assistance. Support the supervisor and co‑workers by following company policies and utilising expertise when instructed or in the absence of the responsible person. People Development Identify and utilise on‑the‑job learning opportunities to achieve competency levels. Attend all relevant training and skills provided for the job. This role is in Engineering & Maintenance (ENG) department on a band 9 (C1/C2) level reporting to the General Engineering Supervisor Services. Qualifications Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical Qualified Artisan (Electrician) South African driver’s licence MV Certificate (advantageous) 2 years’ operational experience as an Electrician Technical knowledge: PLC exposure, high and low voltage fault finding, H1 communication systems, Profibus, S7 PLC programming, optical fibre, and high voltage networks of 11 kV Knowledge of lock‑out procedures and their implementation Understanding of company policies and procedures related to the role Additional Information Anglo American is a global diversified mining business.
