Leading battery manufacturer seeks junior industrial engineer. Help drive lean manufacturing processes in the business. Non‑Negotiables (We will check) Must be a person who is obsessed with continuous improvement and making things better Roll up your sleeves “get hands dirty” type of person What the person must be able to do : This role is in the South African motor manufacturing industry. Specifically the manufacture of car batteries. All duties would take place in this context. You must be familiar with the following : Continuous improvement and how it works in manufacturing Quality metrics and monitoring systems TQM processes Lean, Continuous Improvement and “right first time” Reducing defect rates and defect causes Improving quality while reducing manufacturing costs Driving quality as a culture throughout the business Key Job Deliverables (First 6-12 Months) : Help drive significant Improvements in Efficiency Help implement efficiency improvement plans Introduce new ideas on how the business can be more effective Background work experience 2+ years experience in the Lean Manufacturing, TQM and similar philosophies. Specifically applied to manufacturing Degree in Industrial Engineering or Quality (BSC or Btech) Strong interpersonal skills Type of Person Qualify In Action orientated Analytical thinker Innovator Improvement Driven Interpersonal skills Communication skills Project management and facilitation skills Success orientated Qualify Out Abrasive Emotionally cold Focuses on numbers and forgets about people Introverted – Not a people person Wants to be spoon fed Lethargic Confined to Analysis-Paralysis Personality Summary : Moderate Driver – Results Orientated Go-getter.
