PURPOSE OF THE JOB To find, evaluate and optimise the mineral deposits for Implats as major platinum producer MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS BSc Honours Degree in Geology is essential. MSc Degree in Geology is desirable. GSSA Membership is essential. SAIMM Membership is desirable. Registration as Professional Scientist with SA Council of Natural Scientific professionals is essential. Minimum of 3 years Mining Geology experience is essential. Computer literacy (MS Office) is essential. Must be skilled to operate geological software programs with specific operational experience in modelling software packages. A valid code drivers license with own transport is essential. Valid medical certificate is essential or must be fit to obtain such a certificate. COMPETENCIES Knowledge of drilling techniques Knowledge of electronic data capture software Knowledge of mineral resource plans Effective communication and report writing skills is required. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Scientifically identifies, defines and delineates the ore body. Ensures effective geological modelling is maintained, inclusive of forecast updates. Produces a Geology Structure Model for the Shaft. Declares Mineral Resources for the Shaft. Provide professional advice and integrated communication to production and other technical disciplines for present and future mining. Facilitates integrated participation in the planning and geological exploration on new mining areas. Constantly monitors geological conditions to ensure efficient, economical and progressive mining. Guides and manages the geological function of an operating unit, inclusive of managing contractors. Compiles standardized geological reports for management information purposes. Effectively manages diamond drilling operations and oversees underground sampling (Drillholes and Cut Sample Sections) Electronically captures and updates all geological data in the relevant software systems. Ensures QAQC of Drillholes. Internal applications must be accompanied by a line managers approval of your application.
