Role Description This is a temporary on-site role for a Quality Controller located in the City of Cape Town - Paarden Eiland. Responsibilities Verify and maintain the desired level of quality of all processes and products (imported, locally produced, and/or repacked) by continuous inspections and reporting of non‑conformances. Ensure that labeling complies with current governing legislation, customer requirements, and company specifications. Assist with the effective running of the department by fulfilling daily duties and achieving set targets. Quality Control (Receiving): Inspect all incoming transport vehicles and containers for cleanliness, integrity, and pest activity. Record product and vehicle temperatures at receipt (must be -18°C or below). Check packaging and labeling for compliance. Verify received product types and quantities against purchase orders. Conduct detailed quality inspections as per inspection reports (including color, odor, appearance, barcoding, and traceability). Report and coordinate all product returns with cold store, shop, and traders. Monitor product temperatures and condition during staging/preparation. Inspect pallet and packaging integrity and co‑sign pallet ID labels with cold store representative. Loading and dispatch: Inspect delivery vehicles before loading. Ensure cold chain integrity by monitoring loading times and temperatures. Verify and complete dispatch records accurately. General duties: Handle any ad‑hoc QC tasks assigned by management. Report non‑conformances immediately to relevant managers. Perform sensory evaluations and document results. Handle queries, take photos for sales/traders, and perform filing and admin duties. Print and issue repacking labels. Ensure calibration of measuring instruments and perform daily scale checks. Maintain truthful, accurate, and current quality records at all times. Qualifications Matric or equivalent qualification. Above average work standard. Sound written and verbal communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with staff at all levels. Strong attention to detail. Problem‑solving skills. Strong ability to multitask. Computer literate (Excel, Word & Microsoft). Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision making. Open to change and learning new systems. Flexible due to work demands. Job Requirements Experience needed: 2–3 years of relevant work experience. Contract type: Temporary employment – 6‑month period. Working hours: 08h 00, weekends as required.
