Job Title : Risk Product Actuary Reporting to : Group Risk : Head of ActuarialDivision : A leading financial services business specialising in risk, investment, and administration services to institutions and retirement funds. The division partners with employers to deliver tailored employee benefit solutions, including premium collection and member communication. Role Overview We are seeking a Risk Product Actuary to lead innovation, development, and maintenance of our Group Risk product set. The role will suit a qualified actuary with strong life insurance experience and a proven ability to balance technical expertise with commercial insight. Key Responsibilities Lead and guide a small team, providing strategic product direction in collaboration with the Head of Actuarial. Drive product ideation: develop innovative solutions to meet client needs and respond to regulatory changes. Design and implement new Group Risk products and enhancements to increase market competitiveness and sales. Maintain and refine the Risk product suite by aligning features with client and market requirements. Conduct research and analysis on competitors, clients, and industry trends to ensure product competitiveness. Collaborate with intermediary support teams to provide product expertise for distribution partners. Work across business units to deliver integrated solutions. Provide expert actuarial guidance to internal stakeholders (servicing, marketing, technology, etc.). Requirements Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (or equivalent). Experience 5–10 years' experience in life insurance. Group Risk background preferred, especially in pricing or product development. Knowledge & Skills Strong technical and financial reporting knowledge. In‑depth understanding of the group insurance market. Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Competencies Analytical and conceptual thinker with strong problem‑solving skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication. Leadership ability with proven stakeholder management skills. Commercially minded and results focused. Confident relationship builder, socially engaging and collaborative. Attention to detail with the ability to perform under pressure.
