Job position: Senior Environmental Consultant / Advisor Company name: ABS Africa Job type: Permanent Location: Flexible – Office (Carlswald, Johannesburg), Hybrid or Remote Closing Dates: 19 April 2024 Job Description: ABS Africa (Pty) Ltd ( is looking for a qualified, professional senior environmental consultant to join our team. We are an independent consultancy providing a range of sustainability advisory services to clients across the African continent. We typically work on medium to large scale mining, energy, and infrastructure projects. Within the culture and objectives of the company, the role requires the application of sustainable development expertise throughout the project development process. The typical sustainability advisory services which we provide, and which the role will assist with, includes the following: Complex ESIAs, completed to local and international standards Environmental due diligence investigations Water, waste and atmospheric emission licensing Environmental audits and compliance monitoring Mine rehabilitation and closure planning ESG services Environmental and social assessments and management plans, integrated into concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies Qualifications/Experience Required: A Postgraduate Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences/Management or equivalent qualification in Natural Sciences Excellent proficiency in English (report writing and communication) is a requirement. In addition, a strong French language proficiency will be advantageous 5 or more years’ work experience, preferably in a consulting environment The ability and desire to travel internationally in Africa is a requirement Knowledge of environmental legislation and best practice standards and guidelines A proven ability to collate, filter and assess social and bio-physical data including technical information e.g. engineering designs, laboratory certificates etc. Registration/eligible registration with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions or equivalent will be advantageous Salary range: Market Related based on experience.
