Location: Eastern CapeContract Type: Fixed-term (Project-based)Accommodation: Provided on-site We are seeking an experienced and professional Engineer’s Representative to lead and oversee a bridge construction project in the Eastern Cape . This is a site-based, full-time position for a 12-month contract, ideal for a hands-on engineering professional who thrives on responsibility and precision. Key Responsibilities: Act as the lead engineer on-site , ensuring the bridge project is executed correctly, safely, on time, and within contractual and engineering standards. Oversee all construction supervision, quality control, and progress reporting . Coordinate with the contractor, client (municipality), consulting engineers, and community stakeholders . Review and approve technical drawings, method statements, safety files, and construction programmes. Conduct site inspections, verify quantities, and support progress payment certifications. Resolve technical and operational challenges on-site, making informed decisions on behalf of the consulting engineer. Maintain comprehensive records of measurements, progress, documentation, and compliance . Minimum Requirements: BEng, BSc Eng, or BTech in Civil Engineering . Professionally registered with ECSA as a Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng . Minimum of 8 years’ post-graduation site experience . Proven experience as the lead/site representative on at least two bridge construction projects . Completed Labour-Intensive Construction (LIC) training at NQF Level 7 . Must be willing to reside on-site full-time for the full 12-month contract (accommodation provided). Immediate availability is essential. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership and decision-making abilities on construction sites. Excellent technical and quality assurance expertise. Proficient in reviewing drawings, safety documentation, and project programmes . Exceptional communication and stakeholder coordination skills. Strong problem-solving and reporting capabilities. Detail-oriented, accountable, and committed to professional excellence.
