Company Description AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities (EC) team is looking for a Senior Engineer – Geotechnical to join our team in South Africa offices. EC partners with regional and global teams to provide technical expertise, accelerate delivery and keep AECOM competitive. With over 3000 technical professionals across nine countries, EC provides specialist services that fill capability gaps and assist in projects of all scopes. Job Description Senior Engineer – Geotechnical Responsibilities Utilize scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope. Monitor geotechnical field activities to ensure compliance with project requirements; apply geotechnical assessment and interpretation. Liaise with geotechnical contractors to meet client expectations and deadlines. Apply specifications and standards in accordance with contract and design requirements. Ensure correctness and completeness of all deliverables (reports, drawings, etc.) to meet specifications and field conditions. Assist the geotechnical team in preparing contractual correspondence as required. Travel as needed to other countries for geotechnical projects. Perform other responsibilities or duties associated with this geotechnical position. Qualifications Minimum 8 years’ experience in geotechnical investigation and design work post undergraduate degree. BSc in Geotechnical Engineering or related field (Hons advantageous). Excellent knowledge of development and implementation of geotechnical investigations. Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or has Chartered status (International Engineer). Strong leadership experience and ability to inspire and lead teams. Proficiency in geotechnical software (GEO5, WALLAP, ALP, SlopeW/Slide, Plaxis). AutoCAD/Civil 3D preferred. Good knowledge of soil and rock mechanics; understanding of Eurocodes desirable. Experience in geotechnical designs including settlement analysis, retaining walls, foundations (shallow and deep), earthworks and slope design. Location & Work Model Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa – Hybrid (office at least three days per week).
