Description GIBBs Roads and Highways Services Delivery Unit provides a comprehensive range of services including traditional consulting, Public Private Partnership solutions, and asset management for freeways, bridges, airport pavements, rural roads, and municipal infrastructure. The unit is supported by transportation and traffic engineers, geotechnical and material engineers, and other specialists. This sector is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to complement the team. Applicants who meet the listed requirements will be considered. Core Purpose The successful candidate will support the Resident Engineer in the management and oversight of road construction projects, monitoring contractor progress, supervising construction activities, ensuring traffic accommodation, and maintaining compliance with OHS, road traffic, and environmental requirements. Key Performance Areas Monitor contractor progress Supervise construction activities in accordance with specifications Ensure traffic accommodation Maintain OHS and environmental compliance Manage site laboratory Coordinate issuing of site instructions and responses to contractor correspondence Verify contractor measurements and payment certificates in collaboration with the RE Assist with acceptance control under the guidance of the RE Maintain all necessary site records Liaise with stakeholders and the RE to ensure smooth communication Lead or facilitate monthly site and technical meetings alongside the RE Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification: BSc or equivalent degree Registered as a candidate (Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng) with ECSA Experience 7–10 years of experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer on major road upgrade projects worth R200 million or more Proficient with Civil Designer/Model Maker and AutoCAD Experience in construction supervision and management Experience in construction quality control on major road upgrade projects Minute taking at site and technical meetings Preparation of reports Good knowledge of COTO specifications Good knowledge of FIDIC Conditions of Contract Core Competencies Strong knowledge of MS Office packages Knowledge of COTO specifications Knowledge of SANRAL M2 Manual for site quality control Strong knowledge of Civil Designer/Model Maker and AutoCAD Additional Information Work Level: SkilledJob Type: PermanentSalary: Market RelatedEE Position: NoLocation: East LondonKey Skills: IT Project Management, Business Solutions, Conflict Management, Estimation, IT Service DeskEmployment Type: Full-TimeExperience: YearsVacancy: 1 #J-18808-Ljbffr
