Lead Tosca Automation Engineer – SAPMUST BE Based in South Africa Why this role matters A lead role is not simply a senior with a different title. Where the senior engineer concentrates on technical mastery, the lead carries accountability for direction, delivery, and the people behind it. This means balancing hands‑on Tosca expertise with the patience to coach engineers, the confidence to advise senior stakeholders, and the discipline to keep automation aligned with the bigger SAP programme goals. What you’ll be doing Defining and driving the automation strategy for SAP programmes, ensuring frameworks are scalable and sustainable. Leading and mentoring a small team of automation engineers, supporting their growth, and reviewing their work constructively. Building and reviewing Tosca scripts where complexity demands direct involvement. Engaging senior business and technical stakeholders, communicating risks, benefits, and trade‑offs in language they can act on. Embedding automation practices into CI / CD pipelines and aligning them with DevOps ways of working. Identifying new automation opportunities across SAP landscapes, weighing short‑term efficiency against long‑term maintainability. Reporting automation outcomes to leadership in terms of business value, not just technical metrics. Providing practical guidance and stability during large SAP roll‑outs, where time pressures and risks are highest. What you need to bring 5+ years Tosca experience in SAP environments. 2+ years general automation experience outside Tosca. Hands‑on expertise with SAP Solution Manager (Solman). At least 2 years leading experience (team lead, tech lead, or equivalent role) in automation contexts. Ability to manage, motivate, and develop a small team without losing touch with technical delivery. Strong stakeholder management skills: able to influence senior decision‑makers as well as guide testers and developers. A strategic outlook with the adaptability to handle the realities of shifting SAP programme demands. Helpful extras Background in large retail SAP roll‑outs. Agile delivery experience that goes beyond theory, showing you can work within iterative and fast‑changing project environments.
