Key Responsibilities Deliver high-quality mathematics instruction to secondary school students, adhering to curriculum standards. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, projects, and assessments that cater to various learning styles. Lead the mathematics department, providing guidance and support to other mathematics teachers. Oversee curriculum development and ensure alignment with educational objectives and examination requirements. Identify students requiring additional support or extension and provide tailored interventions. Promote a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving. Organize and supervise extracurricular mathematics activities, such as clubs or competitions. Participate in professional development activities to stay current with educational best practices. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school administration to support student learning and well-being. Contribute to the school's pastoral care system. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field, coupled with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent teaching qualification. A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience at the secondary school level. Demonstrated leadership experience within an educational setting is highly advantageous. Thorough knowledge of the South African National Curriculum and assessment standards. Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a structured learning environment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Proficiency in educational technology and its application in teaching mathematics. A passion for teaching mathematics and inspiring young minds. Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
