The company designs, builds, installs and commissions a wide variety of power generation and energy products. The company serves a wide range of industries, from telecommunications to mining. The company requires the services of a senior design draughtsman – mechanical, on a full time basis. Purpose of the role is to design and develop drawings for a wide range of mechanical systems including equipment enclosures, plantroom layouts, containerised equipment layouts, piping systems, generating set base frames, miscellaneous mechanical structures and layouts. Outputs are general arrangement drawings, shop drawings, bill of material. Candidate will also be expected to complete basic engineering calculations and work with design engineers and project managers. The bulk of the design and draughting work will be done on Inventor. Growth opportunities into a managerial position exist, with the department expanding. Qualifications Draughting certificate. Experience: 5 years minimum, 10 years preferable. Must have a good understanding of mechanical fabrication and joining processes, sheetmetal, piping fabrication, mechanical assemblies. Skills InventorSkills: AutoCAD. Inventor. Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). BIM (beneficial). Revit (beneficial). Attributes Able to work with little / no supervision. Self-motivated. Able to work under pressure. Ability to balance high demand and requests from various departments. Ability to adjust to change in schedules with little notice. Effective time management skills and the ability to multitask. Candidate will report to a drawing office manager and mechanical engineering manager. The position is based in JHB with occasional travel, driver's license required.
