Employer DescriptionOur client is an industrial manufacturing company.Job DescriptionOur client is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Junior Design Engineer to lead technical drawing and design activities within their Drawing Office. You will be responsible for the following:Lead the design and drafting of detailed 2D and 3D pump-related drawings using Autodesk PackagesApprove and amend machining and fabrication drawings to meet design intent and manufacturing standardsOversee drawing office processes including revision control, transmittals, and archivingMentor and guide the draughtsman and ensure quality standards are maintainedConduct dimensional and design compliance checks on pumps and pump componentsCoordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical queries and implement design changesMaintain a well-structured manual and digital drawing file system to ensure traceability and accessibilityPerform engineering calculations including but not limited to: Load analysis, material stress, fluid dynamics, Centre of gravity, bearing selection, and general design calculationFamiliar with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)Responsible for the accurate creation, maintenance, and validation of Bills of Materials used in manufacturing and procurement processesQualificationsDiploma/Degree Mechanical EngineeringHigher qualification in Drafting DesignSkillsMinimum 5 years experience in a draughting or mechanical design roleProficient in Autodesk Packages, drawing management systems (Vault experience is advantageous), and 3D scanningStrong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes and engineering principlesExperience with ERP systems and integrating design information with production dataProven ability to interpret and revise mechanical drawings, machining specs, and complex assembliesStrong grasp of dimensional tolerances and fits of rotating parts, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, machining standards, and fastener/bearing specificationsProficiency in using precision measurement tools: verniers, calipers, micrometres, etcUnderstanding of pump set alignment, datum referencing, and centreline accuracyFoundry knowledge on patternsKnowledge on machine shop equipment and capabilitiesSalary/PackageR45,000 R50,000 basic per monthBenefitsMedical Aid and Provident fund after probation period
