Key ResponsibilitiesImplement and maintain SHEQ policies, procedures, and systems across the facilityConduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analysesEnsure compliance with OHS Act and relevant regulationsPrepare and submit safety reports, audits, and documentation to management and external bodiesFacilitate safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaignsCollaborate with production and engineering teams to embed safety into daily operationsSpend approximately 20% of time on the floor identifying risks and guiding corrective actionsSpend 80% of time on administrative and strategic SHEQ functionsBreak down complex safety instructions into actionable tasks for teamsDrive continuous improvement initiatives and safety culture development ? Minimum RequirementsMatric + relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent)Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Health and Safety Officer in a Manufacturing or Engineering environmentProven experience in SHEQ systems and complianceStrong administrative and reporting skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesAbility to work independently and proactivelyMust be based in or near Germiston ? Ideal Candidate ProfileDynamic and driven, with a proactive approach to safety and complianceNot just a “floor walker” — strategic thinker with strong admin and reporting capabilitiesAble to break down instructions into manageable tasks and guide actions effectivelyAmbitious, with the potential to grow into a Supervisory or Managerial role within 5 yearsComfortable engaging with all levels of staff and managementNot be a job-hopper
