Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

An established international R&D organisation specialising in advanced optical systems for the international civil and security sectors is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its innovative team.This position is ideal for an experienced engineer with strong expertise in precision gimbal mechanisms, optical payload integration, and DTV or electro-optical camera systems. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the mechanical design lifecycle, from concept and modelling through to system integration and performance optimisation.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical design and development of advanced gimbal systems for electro-optical and DTV camera payloadsCollaborate with optical, electronic, and control engineering teams to ensure seamless system integrationDrive innovation in mechanical design, focusing on stability, performance, and environmental durabilityConduct mechanical simulations, tolerance analyses, and environmental reliability testingSupport prototype builds, verification, and validation in both R&D and field environmentsProvide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.Minimum RequirementsBachelor/Master in mechanical engineering from a recognised UniversityProven experience in gimbal system design is essentialBackground in DTV or electro-optical camera systems is highly advantageousProficiency in 3D CAD design tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalentStrong knowledge of precision mechanical systems, motion assemblies, and dynamic balancingExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsQualified candidates are invited to submit a comprehensive CV.If you do not receive a response within two weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful.
