Purpose of the Job: The Purpose of This Role is to be proactive in all aspects of South African tax consulting and tax advisory.PKF Octagon’s tax advisory department is renowned for its comprehensive expertise in South African tax consulting and advisory services. Our advisory services encompass a wide range of tax-related issues, including corporate income tax, international tax, and merger and acquisition tax planning. Key Job Duties or Responsibilities:Produce work of exceptional accuracy and technicalDraft tax opinions, advise, reports or memorandums from various South African tax legislation ensuring technical correctness for review by tax manager.Experience drafting voluntary disclosure programmes, ceasing tax residency applications as well as collating calculations.Knowledge and understanding of preparation of tax due diligence assessmentsGood understanding of tax computations and applicable tax calculationsStrong calculation capabilitiesConstantly kept abreast of changes in the industry and able to interpret these changes to the benefit of the firm and clients.Interpret and apply theoretical knowledge to practical business solutions through a comprehensive understanding of basic South African taxesPrioritise workload effectively to meet establishedGather information from diverse sources using effective researchAssist in the research and preparation of proposals and engagement letters including risk management assistance.Establish credibility with colleagues and clients through effective communicationContribute meaningfully to discussions and actively participate in generating innovative ideas andAdapt to an evolving work environment and respond to changing clientPromote teamwork by regularly sharing knowledge with peers and actively seeking information to achieve personal and professional objectives.Personal Competencies:Able to demonstrate a sound technical ability and knowledge of relevant legislationGood interpersonal skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracyGood presentation skillsActs professionally at all timesNeeds to be driven and enthusiasticTeam playerAble to communicate at all levelsEffective time management skillsMust be comfortable with an office-based role Qualifications And Experience:Qualified CA (SA) (Non-Neg)M-COM TAX / HDip (Tax) or related degrees (neg)Strong academic backgroundMinimum of 5 years experience in Taxation and a demonstrated history of working across various industries and various tax types
