A hardworking, eager-to-learn and well-presented Commis Chef with experience in busy restaurant or hotel kitchens. Skilled in basic food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, supporting station chefs and contributing to smooth kitchen operations. Enthusiastic, disciplined and passionate about developing strong culinary foundations.Minimum RequirementsMatric or equivalentMinimum 6 months to 1 year kitchen experience (or culinary internship)Valid South African ID (no work permits)Culinary qualification or in-progress studies advantageousBasic knife skills and understanding of kitchen workflowStrong hygiene, food safety and organisational skillsAbility to follow instructions and work well in a fast-paced environmentCore SkillsBasic food preparation: chopping, peeling, portioning and organisingAssisting Demi Chefs and CDPs with mise en placeMaintaining workstation cleanliness and hygieneProper labelling, storage and stock rotationFollowing recipes, specs and guidance from senior chefsSupporting hot, cold or pastry sections as requiredOperating kitchen equipment safelyWorking efficiently under pressureTeam communication and cooperationExperience HighlightsAssisted with mise en place for various kitchen sectionsPrepared basic ingredients and components for serviceMaintained a clean, organised and hygienic workstationSupported senior chefs during peak serviceHelped with stock checks, deliveries and storageFollowed food safety standards and HACCP proceduresGained exposure to different cooking techniques and menu itemsStrengthsHighly motivated and eager to develop culinary skillsReliable, disciplined and hardworkingCalm and focused under pressureStrong teamwork and willingness to assist wherever neededAvailabilityWilling to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
