REQUIREMENTSAffirmative Action South African citizenNational Diploma/ B.Tech/ B.Sc/ B.Eng in Mechanical or Mechatronics EngineeringMinimum 3 years of relevant experience in the automotive or a similar engineering fieldESSENTIAL SKILLSKnowledge of modern chassis/ Powertrain/ HVAC vehicle components and systemsKnowledge of modern automotive production methodsKnowledge of project management principlesUnderstanding of basic financial principlesSelf-motivation, good time management, report writing and presentation abilityThe ability to conduct technical presentationsThe ability to work and communicate effectively with people at all levelsMS Office computer literacyCode 08 driver's licenceADDED ADVANTAGEA working knowledge of the German languageRESPONSIBILITIESEnsure the group's products are engineered to market requirements by designing, developing, testing and introducing locally manufactured components, by adapting and developing the group-sourced designs to be compatible with the group's Africa responsible markets‘ environmental conditions and by issuing technical data in line with the correct component engineering level to meet the following criteriaThe products are built problem-freeRegional requirements in terms of local content and technical support are metInnovative and unique product feature developmentSafety and reliability in serviceTechnical support for discontinued models (and still required in Africa)Technical development that adheres to the required product emergence process (PEP) manualApply sound knowledge of vehicle component systems such as the drivetrain, exhaust system, fuel system, air conditioning system, cooling system, etc.Prepare, issue and maintain technical data for chassis, Powertrain and automotive heating-ventilation-air-conditioning (HVAC) components and systemsSupport production, logistics, warranty and quality, and assist with special investigationsSpecify, test and release chassis/ Powertrain/ HVAC components and systems to ensure adherence to internal and external requirementsCreate and track development and release timing plans, and prepare development and release reportsEvaluation and implementation of design changes and material cost-saving ideasSupport of suppliers throughout the development and localisation phasesCommunication and cooperation with relevant group counterparts internationally for projectsApplication of root cause analysis tools, implementation of corrective actions and introduction of preventative measures
