A 5 star boutique hotel is seeking a commis chef assistant, to support the senior chefs by preparing ingredients, performing basic cooking tasks, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and helping with inventory and restocking. This is an entry-level position focused on learning basic cooking techniques and following instructions to assist in the preparation of high-quality dishes.The position is in Winelands / Stellenbosch / Franschhoek area, a great opportunity if you would like to learn from the best.Requirements:MatricCertificate / Diploma in culinary arts preferred / or relevant experienceKnowledge of current food health and safety regulationsAbility to work under pressureExcellent organizational skillsAbility to communicate effectivelyDuties:Measuring ingriedients accurately for the Chef de partiePreparing meals by washing, peeling, and chopping fruits and vegetables and seasoning different kinds of meatPreparing basic salads and sauces for meals, as directed by the chef de partieReceiving deliveries and verifying that all ordered items are received and are good qualityTaking inventory of restaurant supplies and notigying the supervisor when stock is lowDisposing of the expired and spoiled food items stored in stock rooms, refrigerators and freezersCleaning and ensuring that all the work stations are organized and properly sanitizedPreparing all the meal items to be presentable as instructed by the chef de partieThe successful commis chefs will demonstrate excellent organizational skills and are attentive to the kitchen's needs.
